"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" 2 Timothy 2v15

Temperance

Temperance is self-control.

What do we need Temperance over?

  1. Temper (Proverbs 16v32)

  2. The tongue (James 1v26; 3v2-6)

  3. Gluttony (Proverbs 23v2)

  4. Drink (Proverbs 20v1; Ephesians 5v18)

  5. Sinful desires (Romans 6v12)

drunk

Remember...

  • If we are known as bad-tempered, spitefully tongued, gluttonous, drunken, or immoral it will mar our testimony and we will not be as effective for God.

  • We are to keep ourselves from sin, so that others will see Christ in our lives and be drawn to Him.

  • Love God and grow to be more Christ, lest you end up on God's scrap heap.

  • The Apostle Paul kept his body in subjection lest he should become a castaway (1 Corinthians 9v27)

  • Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, so don't destroy it with alcohol, drugs or sinful habits. The Lord wants you to use your body to glorify Him (1 Corinthians 6v19-20).
